Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive: EU Directive (2022/2464) requiring companies with >250 employees or >€40 million revenue to report on sustainability performance (ESG) according to ESRS standards from 2026. Vending operators supply data on energy consumption, refrigerant and packaging waste.

The European directive on sustainability reporting requires companies to disclose environmental, social and governance topics using a unified set of standards — with the same verification rigour as financial reports. The obligation is phased by company size.

For the vending business, the impact is mostly indirect but material: companies required to report request energy consumption, refrigerant and packaging volumes from their service providers, because they must include these figures in their own sustainability reporting. An operator unable to provide this data will lose tenders for reasons entirely unrelated to price.
