combination vending machine

Term from the vending glossary

Vending machine combining hot beverages and cold beverages/snacks in a single cabinet. Saves floor space and power connections compared to two separate units; typical for offices with 30–80 users.

A combination machine houses multiple product categories in a single cabinet, typically chilled beverages and unrefrigerated snacks in separate zones. For sites with limited floor space or limited demand, this is the more cost-effective alternative to two separate units: one location, one power connection, one payment system, one service call.

The trade-off lies in capacity per product category. When both are housed in a single unit, there is less of each — and the operator must decide, when stocking, which section to prioritize. At sites exceeding a certain traffic threshold, the business case favours separate units.
