Site Commission

Term from the vending glossary

Revenue share that an operator pays to a venue owner for placement space. Typical: 10–15 % of net revenue; in high-traffic prime locations up to 25 %. Alternative: fixed site fee (20–150 EUR/month). The amount is negotiable and depends on foot traffic, exclusivity, and contract duration.

Site commission is the share the venue receives for providing the space—typically a percentage of revenue, sometimes a fixed amount. It represents the intersection of two interests: the venue wants a contribution, the operator needs a margin sufficient to sustain the route.

An excessive commission has a predictable consequence: it gets passed along to the retail price, making refreshments more expensive for employees and defeating the original purpose. Venues that view vending machines as part of their employee benefits often waive the commission entirely and negotiate on product prices instead.
