Term from the vending glossary
Packaging Act (valid since 2019, amended multiple times): Manufacturers and marketers of packaging must register with the Central Packaging Register (LUCID) and pay licensing fees. Also applies to vending operators who sell packaged goods.
The Packaging Act requires anyone placing filled packaging on the market for the first time to register with the Packaging Register and participate in a dual system. For vending operators, this becomes relevant when they start filling their own products—cups, lids, stirrers, and bags are classified as packaging under the law.
From the same regulatory framework come two additional obligations that directly affect operations: deposits on single-use beverage containers and levies on single-use plastic products. Both change the unit economics for each sale, not just the documentation.
