Hot Beverage Technology
Fresh brew system
Term from the vending glossary
Brewing method that prepares tea or instant components fresh from powder and hot water — alternative or supplement to bean-to-cup grinding.
A fresh brew system prepares each beverage individually from ground coffee, rather than dissolving a concentrate or powder. The operational effort is greater—grinder, brew group, grounds disposal—and cup quality versus instant methods depends precisely on these factors.
In a commercial environment, the decision is typically not purely a matter of taste but rather a location-specific consideration. Fresh brew machines require more frequent cleaning and greater space, but deliver a beverage for which users are willing to pay more. At high-volume locations with tight service intervals, the instant method retains an advantage.
